Branding, marketing, UI/UX, and web design for next-generation AR hardware company.

Osterhout Design Group builds next-generation AR hardware. I contributed branding, marketing materials, UI/UX design with animated interaction prototypes, pixel-perfect icon sets, and web design. Supervised by Britton Holland, ODG’s Creative Director.

ODG spent six years going from stealth military contractor to the technology spotlight: tech sold to Microsoft in 2014 to power HoloLens, the fastest Android devices on the planet via Qualcomm, CES 2016’s mobile device category winner, and a 2018 acquisition by an undisclosed major technology leader.

Branding & Marketing

Everything at ODG revolved around optics, vision, and overlaying information. The identity was vibrant and pixel-referencing, the tone sleek, dark, and mysterious — carried through booths, events, offices, and labs.

Trade Shows

Platinum-sponsor booths at CES and Augmented World Expo. The biggest: a two-story, $1M, 3,000 sq ft build with a retail floor below, demos and meetings above, and an immersive AR experience made with 20th Century Fox and Ridley Scott for Alien: Covenant.

ReticleOS

Android doesn’t speak dual displays, see-through UI, or world-locking interfaces — so ODG built ReticleOS on top of it: a full application suite, developer support, and Play Store-like services. I designed icon sets, app UI, and animated interaction prototypes for the platform.

Reticle Remote, the companion app for iOS and Android, gave users powerful control over their smartglasses.

Product Design

Buttons, controls, badges, form factors, packaging, and accessories — designed alongside ODG’s industrial designers and engineers.

Operations

The brand carried into ODG’s offices and laboratories through signage, digital displays, labeling, and meeting spaces.
