Tulum | the Yucatan

This was fun. We booked tulum wanting to get away to somewhere warm with beautiful beaches but great adventures. We didn’t realize the reputation Tulum has, and we saw a lot of construction in the area, but mostly we totally enjoyed ourselves learning about this magical part of the world where Mayan civilizations were cradled and there are so many geographic and natural wonders.

Travel

Day 1

To the beach! Oh and dinner at the hotel, not the best dinner, haha

Day 2

Super early morning tacos were the bomb! in a grocery store parking lot. And super inexpensive. eaten on the hood of the car, of course. cenotes by bike. shoutout to brian the greatest host! there are 10,000 cenotes in the yucatan region but they’re not necessarily free for anybody to go. they serve as community centers so the best way to see the more unique ones is to go on a tour with a local! we were mountain biking on these beater surf cruisers but it was so worth it! in the tiny mayan town of chemuyil. then a recommendation for some of the best aguachile that brian gave us! and thennnn, a traditional mayan style of a dinner at such a cute place!

Day 3

Happy birthday to me! OOPS forgot my wallet and camera this day, but we were off to see the Mayan Ruins of Tulum. So amazing. then to the Sian Kaan bioreserve to float down the ancient mayan canals. This place is inaccessible unless you’re a local mayan or you have booked the float through the locals! Pristine freshwater, massive canals, white limestone bottoms, and we started to get a taste of the amazing flora and fauna of Sian Kaan

Day 4

the beach! then into town for some light souvs 🙂 oh and some realllllly good tacos y esquites

Day 5

THE BIG FISHING DAY. first ones out! tons of dolphins!

Day 6

Last day! Back to the beach and on this day it was oh-so sunnyyyyyy. And then a really good dinner
