A ranking of Gorillaz albums.
Just want to say this is impossible. Literally every album has bangers on it and I love all of them. I was forced to do this by Brendan Dolan so if you have hate comments direct them at him. He’s @howiedoon on instagram. This is a living rank, and is subject to change. I will also probably write a quick thing about every one because they cannot be reduced to numbers. Thank you.
- Plastic Beach
- Quientessential, perfect concept album. Explores all genres while staying loyal to a central message. Plus, banger after banger.
- Demon Days
- The album that set the direction for Gorillaz. Full of classics and the first concept album from the band.
- Cracker Island
- A return to form after a handful of more explorative albums. Tight, fun, and while a bit safe, still interesting.
- Song Machine, Season One
- Explorative album that brought out mini-concepts and collaborations with great artists.
- The Now Now
- A bit removed from the rest of the discography, but a refreshingly optimistic theme throughout.
- Laika Come Home
- Dub, innit.
- Gorillaz
- Kickoff album that splashed in and introduced a whole new fusion of genres to the world.
- D-Sides
- Not super comprehensive, but some really cool tracks.
- Humanz
- Honestly, it’s grown on me. Some of the tracks are pretty rough to listen to, but I appreciate the phase of the overall story that this narrates.
- The Fall
- Sad, still some good tracks, but sad.
Also, happy birthday Brendan “Squire” Dolan. Below are some pics of us and B– M——-. (would like to remain anonymous) at/after the SF show in 2022.
